Livestreaming with mutliple audio tracks via azure media services

Hello,

is it possibly to include multiple audio tracks in live streamed video via azure media services?
For example to have different audio tracks for different languages in a live situation. Selectable in the azure media player frontend?

Yes, but only when using the Smooth Streaming ingest protocol from a high end encoder like an Elemental or Media Excel.

RTMP protocol does NOT support multiple languages of audio on ingest, and that protocol wont likely ever get any updates - since it is pretty much deprecated by Adobe.

The downside of this is that you would need a pretty high end and expensive live encoder to achieve the workflow of live with multiple tracks of audio today.

Understood, thank you! We are working with wirecast as an encoding solution at the moment. I'm not quite sure if its possible with wirecast out of the box. As a workaround is there a possibility to select different streams (complete RMTPS stream video and audio) from the player frontend? In other words to send out two different streams for two languages and select the source from the player itself? We would like to avoid an external solution like switching the the embedded player completly with a button in the frontend if possible.

Unfortunately as John mentioned, you cannot send in more than 1 audio stream using the RTMP protocol to the live stream, so what you are mentioning is not possible.
