Hyper-V Check Point missing/issue

Hi Experts,

I have Windows Server 2012 R2 with Failover clustering HYPER-V.

I have two CSV RAID1 and RAID5.

I have taken a checkpoint on my one VM called ERP-DEV and it's all files including VHD files on RAID1, The remaining space on RAID1 was around 200 GB please also note that some other VM's VHD are also running on it.

I have decided to delete the checkpoint on ERP-DEV and during in process of merging space on RAID1 was full and all other VMs came paused (SAVED STATE). As a troubleshooting purpose, I have moved some VMS to another location which created some space on RAID1 but the issue is that I can see AVHDX file of ERP-DEV but it does not show any checkpoint mention on the Hyper-V console. Please note that during the merging of ERP-DEV the machine was power off.

Now I am confused about how should I continue what will happen if I start ERP-DEV ? what will be the status of VM as most of the space is consuming by the AVHDX file how can I move forward? how can I merge or delete a checkpoint for the stable state of the machine as I only have 200 GB space left and ERP-DEV size is around 900 GB.

Some Screen-Shots are attached.90481-1.png90482-2.png90400-3.png90483-4.png

    Hi,
Based on your description, I’d suggest that you expand your CSV first.

Considering you are probably in a production environment, it's suggested that you back up the VM. You could try exporting the VM to an external drive, so that the VHDX file and the checkpoints will be exported in case you need recovery.

After that, manually merge the checkpoints to the vhdx file.

    Thanks for your time.
    Best regards,
    Danny
