Moving from GRS to LRS in Replication Strategy

We are looking to move our storage from GRS to LRS to save cost in our replication strategy. I am getting some conflicted answers on the manner in which the storage will change to LRS. (We are still on a v1 general storage accoutnt)

Per here:
It says we can just use the Azure portal and its should take effect.

But reading other places, it says that you cannot move from GRS to LRS without beginning with a new recovery vault.

Does anyone have insight on which is correct?

    Hi @KyleBrewer-3915 ,

    changing an Azure Recovery Services Vault from GRS to LRS (or vice versa) is possible.
    There are 2 options for this.

    Preserve existing backups -> https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/backup/backup-create-rs-vault#must-preserve-previous-backed-up-data
    Do not preserve existing backups: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/backup/backup-create-rs-vault#dont-need-to-preserve-previous-backed-up-data
