KB4566782 update causing boot failure(black screen with dialer image). After several minutes, shut down and restart. After 2-3 restarts I got message "attempting repairs", and then "We removed some recently installed updates to recover your device from a startup failure." Stopped updates to continue using computer for a few days and had no problems booting up. Downloaded update manually and installed and had same problem. Checked download list, KB4566782 not listed but KB45665503 was on download date. How does this problem get corrected?

Follow up to yesterday's reply. I did the downloads (as stated in yesterday's reply) (KB4566782 was one of them) and shut down for the night. Booted up this morning and the boot loop was back. Used delete update feature and one was deleted and one was unable to delete. Don't know which was deleted and not able to delete. I can still boot into my D drive, which I'm on now. Open to any suggestions.

One other note since I'm not the only one having this problem with this update. There are comments about the BCD file being damaged. How can I check that?

Did system to an earlier date. When complete,it stated it could not be restored. Shut down and opened the other boot drive (dual boot  Drives C and D). Continued using for rest of day. Booted up this morning into Drive D with no problems. Decided to try to boot into Drive C to try some other options. Drive C booted up as normal. I copied the files I wanted, shut down and restarted. Boot was normal. Downloaded and installed posted updates with no problem. However, the latest Edge update does not work, along with any website or link associated with it. I MSN/8, IE, Firefox, Google Chrome all work. It states that AOL Desktop Gold is incompatible with Edge. Had no problem before the Edge update. What now?

    Hi,

In that case, I suggest you Restore to an earlier system restore point following the "Use installation media to restore your PC" option guideline documented in the below article.

Thank you for your quick reply. I tried the startup repair several times with same result, also did update removal, and system restore, same result. Startup Repair displayed "Startup Repair couldn't repair your PC. Press "advanced options" to try to repair your PC or "Shut down" to turn off your PC. Log file: F:\Windows\System32\Logfiles\Srt\SrtTrail.txt" I have checked this file and the only error codes are Error code = 0X0 and Error code =  0x3f1. I also tried Safe Mode and Safe mode with Network. Did same thing with safe mode on startup.

Fortunately, I have a dual boot on my computer, also Win 10 Pro, which I am on now and haven't accessed for some time. I paused updates, which there are a few, not wanting to possibly have the same thing happen to this system. Since I can't boot into my other system where all my information is, What do I do now?
