Hello,

I have been having trouble lately when trying to start games that had already worked. I tried updating/reinstalling drivers but that didn't work.

Im running an Acer Aspire VX5-591G with:

Windows 10 Home 64-bit Build 19041

Intel Core i5-7300HQ

Intel HD Graphics 630

Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050

Today I tried a game that gave me this error message:

DXError 8876017C line 184

Called from h3d.impl.DirectXDriver.onDXError (h3d/impl/DirectXDriver.hx line 196)

Called from haxe.$EntryPoint.run (C:\Projects\haxeTools\std/haxe/EntryPoint.hx line 125)

I am stumped and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Seems you need to ask a help from game developers. And try to reinstall games. Do not install any add-ons if you have ones.

The game that gave me the error message is "Dead Cells", I started it via Steam. Other games that did not work are "Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun" or "Bomber Crew". But some games still work as normal, for example "Tomb Raider" or "Rocket League".

Did you try other games? What is game's name?

    Hi Igor,

thank your for helping. I hope I did this right. I started Powershell via the "Windows PowerShell (x86)" Shortcut as administrator. I then entered the command and waited for it to complete successfully. I then restarted the laptop. Sadly the same issue still remains and I still get the error message posted above.

    Hi Lufas,

I'm Independent Advisor not Microsoft employee or support person. But I'm in contact with Windows developers since 1995 - as a one of the best Windows beta-testers till 2009 when program was closed, as an MVP in 2005-2017 including Windows System & Performance nomination. So I have deep enough Windows knowledge and you may trust me. It's a pleasure for me to help others and I'll do all my best to help you.

    Please repair system files by

    DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

command from Windows PowerShell (administrator) environment.

Or use system restore point to roll back to date before problem occured.
