Hi,

I'm using Windows 11 in Portuguese, which is my native language, although I have a International English keyboard layout and, I'm pretty sure that I configure just that layout (english international), but windows keep creating automatically PT-BR ABNT 2 layout, and worse than that, changing layout without my ask. Is it possible Microsoft solve this bug once for all? Shouldn't be me that select keyboard layout I want to use?

I'm pretty sure it's an easy bug to be solved, but keep not working properly since I remember.

    Hi, thiagofialhos

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

Microsoft does indeed provide options for configuring your keyboard layout, but sometimes it can be a bit tricky, especially when it comes to automatic changes. Here are some steps you can try to resolve this issue:

    1. Remove the Unwanted Layout: Go to the Language settings in Windows 11. Under “Preferred languages,” find the Portuguese language pack. Expand it and click on “Options.” Under “Keyboards,” you will see the unwanted PT-BR ABNT 2 layout. Click on “Remove.”
    2. Set English as Your Default Language: While still in the Language settings, use the up arrow to move English to the top of the list of your preferred languages. This will set English as your default language for Windows.
    3. Disable Automatic Language Switching: To prevent Windows from changing layouts without your command, go to “Devices” in settings, then “Typing,” then “Advanced keyboard settings.” Under “Switching input methods,” select “Let me set a different input method for each app window” instead of “Let Windows manage my default input method.”
    4. Check Your Keyboard Shortcut: Ensure that the keyboard shortcut for changing layouts (default is either Alt + Shift or Windows key + Space) isn’t being pressed inadvertently.
    5. Update Your System: Make sure that your system is up-to-date. Sometimes, bugs related to keyboard layouts can be fixed with a simple system update. If these steps don’t resolve the issue, it might be a more complex problem that requires a more in-depth solution or perhaps a bug that Microsoft needs to address.
