Changing Default Program Installation Directory Using Registry Editor

I'm trying to change the default program installation directory on my laptop to my D drive. Everything I've read online said to just change the ProgramFilesDir and ProgramFilesDir (x86) to the new drive path, however, do I not need to change the other directories to the D drive as well like the CommonFilesDir?

When I did this before, I noticed that some programs were indeed installed in the D drive but still had files in the Common Files folder in the C drive. Is that alright?

Thanks!

    Hi there,

Suggest not changing the Program Files directory. It creates problems (Error 0xC1900204) when installing feature updates.
