The first thing you must do is to determine what is causing the crash. Only then will you know how to proceed. The alternative is to try this, that, and the other thing in the hope that something will work. That's time-wasting, at best, and could even make things worse.

Unfortunately, it's not always easy to pinpoint the cause of a crash. Here are four places to look for a possible answer:

1- If you're the type who's attuned to what's going on with their PC, you can usually figure what event made things go bad. But whether you are attuned or not, can you think of any event, something that happened after which things started to go bad?

2- Crashes are usually (but not always) accompanied by a message that LOOKS_LIKE_THIS or has a code that often starts with 0x000 ... If you saw either of those or both, report them here.

Crash codes will rarely pinpoint the cause of a crash - they aren't designed to do that - but they can give you an idea of where to look for an answer.

3- Some crashes cause Windows to create a 'dump' file, which is simply the contents of your computer's memory (i.e., RAM) at the time the crash happened. Like the crash code, a dump file is unlikely to point to a specific cause, but it can give you ideas that might help you figure out what happened.

4- Event Viewer can show the crash codes if you didn't previously see them, but you must be careful where you look. You must look at the correct code at the exact time the crash happened, which is isn't easy even for someone experienced.

There are two ways to respond to a crash: make it go away or fix it. You can choose whichever approach you like, but for myself, I'm only interested in fixing them and doing it the right way. If you're not able to at least narrow down a possible cause from the above, don't hesitate to show your computer to a professional. By all means, don't get in over your head by trying complicated technical steps that you don't fully understand.

My name is Talita. I'm an Independent Advisor and I'll be glad to help you today.

I'll give you some tips to solve your problem:

    1. Update Windows 10

An old version of the system may be causing conflicts with components and other installed software. You can check for updates available through Windows Update itself. Just access Windows 10 settings, go to "Update and security" and check the update status. If there is a more recent version of the system, click "Restart now" to start the process immediately or set a time in "Schedule restart".

    1. Enable or disable the quick start

Changing the quick start setting can cause stop errors, the so-called blue screen. This option is located in the Control Panel, in the "Hardware and Sound" section. Entering the menu, click on "Power Options", select "System Settings" and access the link "Choose the function of the power buttons".

Note that there is a "Turn on quick start (recommended)" box. Change it. If it is checked, uncheck it; if unchecked, activate the check. Then press the "Save changes" button.

If the problem persists, give feedback to pass on more tips

    Sincerely

    Talita C.

After trying what you said my issue persisted, so I decided to give you some more information on it. Whenever I get a blue screen the message that comes up is "SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION", I have tried everything you told me but got a blue screen within an hour of changing those settings. I have also tried what was recommended on this link https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/sbs/windows/troubleshoot-blue-screen-errors-5c62726c-6489-52da-a372-3f73142c14ad?ui=en-US&rs=en-US&ad=US, but without success. I appreciate the assistance.

I'll give you some more tips that can solve your problem:

After you have tried to update Windows and enable or disable the quick start, you can:

Check and Repair Damaged Windows System Files

Step 1: Click on the "Windows" and "X" keys simultaneously to open this tool.

Step 2: Now, press "A" and select "Yes" to access the Command Prompt as an administrator.

Step 3: In the Command Prompt window, type "sfc / scannow"

The system scan will start immediately. Make sure not to shut down or restart your computer, unless the process is complete. Once you're done, close the Command Prompt and restart your computer. Now, check to see if the problem persists or has been resolved.

    Update or Reinstall Windows Drivers

One of the frequent causes of the Windows 10 blue screen system_service_exception is incompatible drivers in Windows. Although Windows routinely updates drivers, sometimes new versions installed are not synchronized with the latest drivers. Therefore, you must install the latest drivers to resolve the issue of the blue screen of death.

Here is the process for installing the latest drivers on Windows:

Step 1: Press "Windows" and "R" to open the dialog.

Step 2: Type "devmgmt.msc" in the dialog and click "OK" to open the Device Manager.

Now, find the divers that are highlighted with a yellow alert symbol. Includes both video and audio drivers and cards.

Step 3: Right-click the driver and click "Update driver".

Step 4: The previous step will make your Windows 10 look for updated software drivers. Wait for the process to complete, as it automatically finds the latest drivers.

    Disable Third-Party Antivirus

As in many cases, most of the time the cause of the BSOD system_service_exception error in Windows 10 is a third-party antivirus. Many antivirus software blocks certain applications and creates a malfunction.

If you fail to get the blue screen of death after temporarily disabling the antivirus, then this may be the cause of the problem. If you regularly update your Windows Defender, it is more than enough for security against any malicious attacker.

Tip: For best results, it is recommended that you leave your Windows Defender on at all times. This includes while browsing the Internet, downloading a file from an unknown source or website.

Disable your webcam to fix the system_service_exception (ks.sys) error

Often, some integrated hardware, such as the webcam on your laptop or monitor, can also lead to a BSOD system_service_exception error. Now, if you have a system_service_exception error, it is best to disable your webcam. Follow the instructions mentioned below to disable your webcam.

Step 1: Click on the "Windows" and "X" keys to select "Device Manager" from the list.

Step 2: In the "Device Manager", find the webcam.

Step 3: Now, right-click on "Imaging devices" and disable them.

Now, check whether the blue screen problem is resolved or not. Otherwise, it may be due to other hardware, and you may have to look further to find out.

Remove VPN Software to Fix the System_Service_Exception Error (ntfs.sys)

As mentioned by several experts on the Microsoft forum, some antivirus and VPN client programs could also be the cause of the blue screen error in Windows 10 system_service_exception. Therefore, if you are using the Bit Defender or Cisco VPN tools, it may be best to remove these applications. In addition, you can always reinstall the latest version of the VPN software, if not.

Now, if even after removing the VPN software the problem is not resolved, you can use Windows Restore to revert your computer to the previous restore point. Not only can you fix the problem, but you can also compare the reference point to find out what may be the cause for the blue screen problem. Follow the process to set up your Windows to an earlier date using system restore.

Step 1: Press the "Windows" key and type "Restore your PC".

Step 2: Click on "Create a restore point".

Step 3: A window will open. Click System Protection -> System Restore.

Step 4: Read the instructions and click "Next".

Step 5: Now, check the "Show more restore points" box, select the restore point you want and click "Next".

Step 6: Click "Next" in the instructions to complete the system restore process.

Now, restart your computer to see if the Windows system_service_exception blue screen error has been resolved or not.

    Perform Troubleshooting

If the system_service_exception BSOD error has not yet been resolved, you can use Microsoft's native Troubleshooting tool. It is available in the original version of Windows 10 and in later versions. Troubleshooting is effective on a number of system problems, as is the System File Checker. Follow the steps below to learn how Troubleshooting works to resolve the Windows blue screen error system_service_exception.

    Step 1: Click on "Settings".

Step 2: Go to "Update and Security".

Step 3: Click on "Troubleshooting" and find the BSOD.

Step 4: Click "Run Troubleshooting" to start the process.

Step 5: Now, follow the instructions on the screen to resolve the issue.

Step 6: After the process is complete, restart your computer to see if the problem is resolved or not.

    Check the Hard Drive

Any technical error or hard drive failure can also result in the Windows 10 BSOD error system_service_exception. Similar issues have also been observed in Windows 7 and 8, not just Windows 10. For hard drive problems, you can run CHKDSK from the Command Prompt. It checks the file system and corrects issues related to specific settings. Follow the process mentioned below to fix the blue screen problem.

Step 1: Click on the "Windows" and "X" keys simultaneously to open this tool.

Step 2: Now, press "A" and select "Yes" to access the Command Prompt as an administrator.

Step 3: Type "chkdsk / f / r" in the CMD window and press "Enter".

Step 4: Now, type "Y" to start the system.

As the computer restarts, the utility can check the file system for errors. It also finds bad sectors on the hard drive and corrects them.

    1. Run the Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool

Step 1: In the search box, enter "Memory Diagnosis" and open the application.

Step 2: The "Windows Memory Diagnostics" window will open. Click "Restart now and check for problems (recommended)".

Step 3: As the PC restarts, the Windows Memory Diagnostic tool will check for memory problems on your system. Once the process is complete, it will display the test results.

    1. Update the BIOS

Updating the BIOS (Basic Input Output System) configuration usually works well to correct the blue screen problem. In Windows 10, you can access it through Startup Repair. As it can only be updated in WinRE (Windows Recovery Environment), you need to restart your PC. Follow the process mentioned below when your computer restarts and the Windows logo appears on the system.

Step 1: In Windows 10, click "F8" for a second to restart the system.

Step 2: Now, click "Repair your computer" to open WinRE.

Step 3: A new page called "Choose an option" will open and click on "Troubleshooting".

Step 4: Now, click on "Advanced Option" and open "Startup Restore" to resolve problems affecting the Windows OS load.

Now restart your computer and check if the system_service_exception blue screen error has been fixed.

Sorry for the large amount of information, but I hope that you now have enough information to solve your problem.

I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any more questions

    Sincerely

    Talita C.

I've tried everything on the list. On device Manager I have warning signs on the Raid Controllers, but I cant find anywhere to update it. I've even looked up online but wasn't sure. Also, I don't believe restoring my Windows to a previous version will help as I have been getting blue screens since October and have had many updates for drivers since then. This is my trouble shoot list, there is no blue screen troubleshooting.
