Touchpad and Left Click not Working - windows 10

The Left Touchpad button and touchpad gestures have suddenly stopped working on my Legion Y540. The right button works well and both the clicks are working through an external mouse.

I have tried almost everything in the book to fix this - Uninstalling device(I2C HID Device) through the device manager. Reinstalling through startup...using external software to find a driver problem but all of them are saying nothing's wrong.

Also, note - the touchpad gestures and tap click start working if I change the primary key to right-click. (Not working when the primary key is left-clicked though).

I somehow feel this IS NOT a hardware issue...and I really don't want to reinstall windows. Are there any external drivers that I can download for Y540 to make it work? Solutions Please.

    Hello,

    Thanks for the reply, but neither of the above worked. The laptop has all the latest updates possible.

    Thanks for the info.

    We will perform a second test.

    Create a new user account and check the behavior.

    1. Press the Windows + R keys to open the "Run" window;
    2. Copy and paste the command

    control userpasswords2

    and press ok;

    1. Click on the "Add" option;
    2. Select the option "Do not connect to a Microsoft account";
    3. Choose a name and password for this profile and then proceed;
    4. After the new profile is created, go back to the "User Accounts" screen, click on your user and then on "Properties". Select the "Group Membership" tab;
    5. Mark the profile as Administrator and click on Ok;
    6. Log in with the new account;

    Once the problem is resolved, copy and paste the files from the old account to the new account:

    1. Press the "Windows flag" + E key to open File Explorer;
    2. In File Explorer, select "This Computer" in the left column;
    3. In "This Computer", select "WIndows (C :)";
    4. Among the folders presented, select the "Users" folder;
    5. Accessing the "Users" folder, select and access the folder with the name of your old account;
    6. Open the folders inside the folder with the name of your old account, and copy the files to your new account.

    Important: You must OPEN FOLDERS in your old account and COPY THE FILES to the new account, there is no use trying to copy the folders.

    After migrating your data, delete your previous user:

    1. Press the Windows + R keys to open the Run window, type

    netplwiz

    and click OK;

    1. Select your previous user and click Remove.

    I await news.
