Cisco VPN disconnects when the user lock the screen and idle

Hi,

  1. Installed operating system is Windows 10 version 1909 Enterprise Edition
  2. User connected the laptop to docking station
  3. Laptop gets network connection in Ethernet port
  4. Issue: When the user go away from the laptop then when he comes back Cisco VPN is disconnected. It is trying to reconnect multiple times. User need to login to VPN again
  5. Unchecked the "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" in the ethernet adaptor.
  6. Still the issue occurs
  7. Sleep is updated as Never in power options
  8. Cisco VPN has 300 minutes idle time to auto disconnect

Please help what will be the issue and how to solve it

    Are you using any third party Firewall or Antivirus? Any third party firewalls or antivirus programs installed on your device may be affecting your VPN connection.

    Hi,

    It might be related with System unattended sleep timeout setting, and that causes a locked computer to sleep even when the "Sleep" setting is set to "Never".

    Registry path:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\PowerSettings\238C9FA8-0AAD-41ED-83F4-97BE242C8F20\7bc4a2f9-d8fc-4469-b07b-33eb785aaca0

    Minimum value: 0 (Never idle to sleep)
    1 = Hide "Console lock display off timeout"
    2 = Show "Console lock display off timeout"

    If you set its Attributes DWORD value to 2. This will make it show up in your advanced settings. Go there and configure it to be zero minutes if you don't want it to sleep when you lock your screen.

    Just want to suggest check and see if you can remote desktop to your laptop when it's locked. (i.e.: whether it is the network got disconnected, not just the VPN).

    My colleague have problem RDP connect to his docked laptop while WFH. It's found that the network will be disconnected if the lid got closed.
