Hello RobinFerrie, welcome to the Microsoft community, my name is Luiz Cruz, an independent consultant and I would be happy to help you.
Initially I recommend that you follow the instructions below:
Navigate to the following location on your computer by opening Windows Explorer and clicking This PC;
C: \ Users \ YOURUSERNAME \ AppData \ Messenger
If you are unable to see the AppData folder, you may need to enable the option to view hidden files and folders. Click the "View" tab on the File Explorer menu and click the "Hidden items" checkbox in the Show / hide section. The File Explorer will show hidden files and remember this option until you change it again.
Delete the Messenger folder in the AppData folder.
Click the Start button or the search button next to it and type "Run" or use the Windows + R key combination to open the Run dialog box. Type "%localappdata%" and click Enter.
Locate the Messenger folder in the folder that opens, right click on it and select Delete
Make sure that the folders have been completely deleted and that there are no more files left in them. Check if the error still appears after restarting the computer!
I hope I helped, even more!
