Last month I updated my Windows 10. After the update five of my keyboard keys stopped working. I thought this was a hardware issue. But after some days a new update came which I installed and the keys started working again properly.

Now last week I installed the Feature update to Windows 10, version 20H2 and now the same five keys have stopped working again. Both of the times, the keys stopped working immediately after the update so I think this is not an hardware issue but a bug. Please look into the matter. Assistance needed as soon as possible.

These are my device specifications:

Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8550U CPU @ 1.80GHz   1.99 GHz

Installed RAM 20.0 GB (19.9 GB usable)

System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Pen and touch No pen or touch input is available for this display

These are the windows specification:

Edition Windows 10 Home Single Language

Version 20H2

Installed on ‎15-‎03-‎2021

OS build 19042.868

Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.551.0

    Hi AniketAgrawal,

My name is Darren; an Independent Consultant, I'm here to help you with your problem.

Firstly, please try running the troubleshooter:

Go to Start > Settings > Update & Security > Select troubleshoot tab > under "Find and fix other problems", click on Keyboard > click on run the troubleshooter and follow on-screen directions.

Next, you can try updating the keyboard driver:

Go to Start > Type "Device Manager" and hit enter > right click on your keyboard driver and select update driver > Click on "Search automatically for updated driver software" to ensure that you have the latest driver.

If this issue started occurring after a recent windows update, you can try roll back driver:

Go to Start > Type "Device Manager" and hit enter > right click on your keyboard driver > select properties > select driver tab > click roll back driver

If roll back driver isn’t available or did not work, you can try uninstall your keyboard driver and scan for hardware changes:

Go to Start > Type "Device Manager" and hit enter > right click on your keyboard driver > select properties > select driver tab > click on uninstall device > select "Delete the driver software for this device" and click OK > In Device Manager, on the Action menu, select Scan for hardware changes > Wait for it to scan and reinstall the driver then restart your pc and check if the issue still persists.

Also, go to Start > Type "Windows Update Settings" hit enter > Click on "Check for updates" to ensure you have installed the latest windows update.

Restart your computer and check if the problem still persists.

However, if the issue still persists, try run the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files:

I hope this helps. If this is not exactly what you need, please explain more so that I can help you better.

    Thanks

I am having a similar issue since the latest windows update. The keyboard on my laptop will randomly stop working altogether. Typically, I am able to resolve the issue by removing all keyboard drivers and restarting. Once restarted, I have to shut down the computer again and go into BIOS upon restart. After exiting BIOS, the computer restarts and the issue is typically fixed temporarily. Being able to enter BIOS using the F2 key indicates an issue with the software, not the keyboard. Although I am typically able to fix this issue, it is incredibly frustrating to have to deal with the problem for 15 minutes or so when I am in the middle of completing work on my laptop. I attempted all steps in this response - all of which were unsuccessful. Additionally, I am unable to revert to the previous Windows version because I updated more than 7 days ago. This issue needs to be fixed ASAP. It happens almost every day for me and is incredibly frustrating when I am working on time-sensitive projects/work.
