So about a month ago my microphone stopped working and when I went to the amd website and reinstalled all my chipsets again it was working like new untill I plugged in my headphones. I plugged in my head phones for some gaming and then when I unplug them it stops working again. I've tried the same fix again but nothing works. I guess I could use my gaming headset forever but it's not comfortable like that. I've never dropped my computer and I've never spilled anything on it. Also I got this computer 3 months ago. it's an omen 15. Please help anyone that can thank you.

Hi VyanBlue, I'm Benedict, an Independent Advisor. I'm here to help you.

Kindly try running the Recording Audio Troubleshooter in Settings>Update & Security>Troubleshoot, or to locate this:

    1. Open Start Menu.
    2. Type and search for "Troubleshoot settings". Open it.
    3. In the right pane, if you can't see the said troubleshooter or no recommended troubleshooter is listed, click on Additional troubleshooters.
    4. Now, look for the said troubleshooter and click it.
    5. Click on "Run the troubleshooter"
    6. Choose the problematic device and click Next.

If that doesn't help, try updating manually the audio drivers mentioned below in Device Manager:

    > Audio inputs and outputs > Microphone array

    > Sound, video and game controllers > Realtek(R) Audio

    • Locate the said driver in Device Manager
    • Right click on the driver and select "Update Driver".
    • Next select "Browse my computer for drivers"
    • Click on "Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer".
    • Make sure the option "Show compatible hardware" is checked.
    • For Microphone array driver, select Generic device and click Next.
    • For Realtek(R) Audio driver, select High Definition Audio Device and click Next.
    • If the issue is still there, try uninstalling the drivers and restart your computer.

    Please see if that helps.

    Regards,

    Benedict P.

So after I updated those drivers now the microphone isn't popping up in device manager at all anymore. Also how do I delete all the drivers?

After manually updating your microphone driver with Generic device, it will be moved to "Software devices" and if manually updating the driver didn't sort the issue, then uninstall the microphone driver by right-clicking on it, select "Uninstall device", and restart your computer.

I see. I'm really sorry if the solutions I provided above could not help. Maybe someone else will have a solution for you.

    Kind regards,
    Benedict P.
