Hello Face Removal

This morning I got a lot of BSOD when attempting to start my PC.

Looking at the events log I see that the first problem was a Kernel Power 41

(Which can happen for a lot of reasons)

but the second one was  Windows Hello Face Driver
ROOT\WindowsHelloFaceSoftwareDriver\0000 Driver \Driver\WudfRd
failed to load.

Yesterday the only thing that I did out of the ordinary was
I unplugged and replugged my Logitech camera into my

laptop in a different USB port to that I which I had used

before.

Perhaps this triggered the Windows Hello Face Software

Driver. There is no built in camera so plugging a camera

in might require the installation of this driver.

In do not want face recognition on my PC. Not now nor ever.
If I uninstall the driver I think that it will be reinstalled.

How can I remove Hello Face forever?

Hi Tim. I'm Greg, awarded MVP for eleven years, Volunteer Moderator, and Independent Advisor here to help you until this is resolved.

Make sure Hello Face is not turned on in Settings > Accounts > Sign in Options.

Test disabling the driver in Device Manager, accessed by right clicking the Start button.   Hello Face may have Imaging and Biometric category drivers.

Report back results after observing for a day.

Let me know how that works, Tim. If not we'll try something else.

Thanks! That sounds good. I have done it. I think it is a solution. I may forget to click yours as the solution. Should I do so please feel very free to Google me should you wish.

    Thanks
    Tim

That's right, Tim, if you disable the driver won't start - so you never want to use it on a critical driver that affects WIndows ability to start, which this one is NOT.

If you uninstall a driver it reinstalls it at restart, effectively the way to reinstall a driver.

    Keep me posted.

    Thanks Greg

If I disable the driver will the driver not be loaded?

I did not know that right clicking the start menu gave that menu, thanks.

There is only the one driver by the look of things.

It seems that uninstalling the driver will not work because it will be reinstalled when the relevant hardware is plugged in.
