Duplicate files

Hi. Have notice that everytime I finish working on any documen be it word, excel or powerpoint and close such a document, the same file duplicates in the same saved name but with a symbol ~$ in front of the file name. And if I check on the properties of the same ~$ files it indicates that they are hidden. Have tried to remove them by deleting but they seem not to be finishing because they are duplicated whenever I finish working on a document. Am now afraid can this be the virus or what? What should I do to avoid such files from my computer? My antivirus is updated all the times and have tried to scan but nothing seem to be working. I am using windows 10.

Those files are normal, but usually you shouldn't be able to see them. The best thing to do is to open your File Explorer options and tell it not to show hidden files.

While you're working on a file, all your changes and edits are actually going into that temporary file. Then when you press the Save button, the original "real" file gets deleted and the temporary file gets saved as the same name (so fast you don't even see it happen, but that's technically what happens).
