I have a windows 10 , with C and D drive , I tried to unlock the bitlocker key , and found that the key is different for these two drives , I can only unlock one of them , would advise why the key is different ? if I can only unlock one of them , is it possible to unlock another drive without knowing the key ?

thanks

    According to the official document:

The hard disk must be partitioned with at least two drives:

    1. The operating system drive (or boot drive) contains the operating system and its support files. It must be formatted with the NTFS file system.
    2. The system drive contains the files that are needed to load Windows after the firmware has prepared the system hardware. BitLocker is not enabled on this drive. For BitLocker to work, the system drive must not be encrypted, must differ from the operating system drive, and must be formatted with the FAT32 file system on computers that use UEFI-based firmware or with the NTFS file system on computers that use BIOS firmware. We recommend that system drive be approximately 350 MB in size. After BitLocker is turned on it should have approximately 250 MB of free space.

Bitlocker encrypts partitions, and not disks.

    Hi

Bitlocker is used to encrypt partitions. Each partition, such as C or D drive, has to set its own password separately. These passwords can be the same or different.
You can right click the C or D drive , then click on <change bitlocker password>.
Type in the old password , type in a new password , type the new password again to confirm new password , and click/tap on change password.

It is possible to unlock another drive without knowing the key. When we start to use bitlocker for the first time , bitlocker recovery key has been created .
We can use recovery key to unlock the drive in case of forgetting password .
Please scan the following web https://learn.microsoft.com/zh-cn/windows/security/information-protection/bitlocker/bitlocker-recovery-guide-plan about how to use recovery key.

    Best regards
    Miles
