Hi folks,

first of all I wanna say I know this question has been asked a lot but after many tries I still haven't found a fix

After updating my drivers with driver booster and a restart I noticed my NVidia drivers were replaced with "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter"

I have tried many solutions some of them were updating manually via device manager or GeForce experience but I couldn't download the drivers (it gave me an error during the installation), updated windows, downloaded Intel driver & support assistant but that didn't help either. I also ran Windows Trouble shooting -> Hardware & Devices and it gave me the following errors:

Microsoft Basic Display Adapter has a driver problem -> Not Fixed

PCi device doesn't have a driver (I am assuming this is the cause of my issue) -> Not >Fixed (I tried to search for drivers manually via device manager but that didn't work)

Any help is appreciated

Your Windows 10 version and build are from 2016, so out of date and support.

The current driver package from Nvidia will probably not work while windows is not at a more recent release.

Look at settings>update and security to see if there are updates waiting. Have you not updated one purpose or has it always failed. You need to update Windows 10 first.

    Hi Yakup,

I am Dave, an Independent Advisor, I will help you with this.

The first thing to do is totally remove Driver Booster, because driver update utilities are renowned for installing incompatible drivers, causing driver problems and blue screens and it is very hard to undo what those utilities do, the only place to get drivers is from Windows 10 updates or the support page for your PC

The best option is to go to the support page for your PC on the Asus website. if they provide a utility to automatically check for driver updates, run that.

If not, download and install the Chipset drivers and Nvidia drivers they recommend and also check for any BIOS update that may be available.

Then if you still cannot install that driver, uninstall the Microsoft basic Display stiver, then select Action - Scan for hardware changes again.

You should always go to the Nvidia website to download new drivers. That said what is the version and build of Windows 10 currently, type winver in Search and select the top result.

Are you downloading the notebook drivers, don't know if they are different. https://www.nvidia.com/en-gb/geforce/drivers/
