About 15 years ago, I took the 2003 server course in college. They had us buy the text book and lab manual. The lab manual is very important to me to learning this stuff. It appears lab manuals don't exist anymore. How do people do labs these days? I need a task that is to solidify what I read. If I just make stuff up and play around with the server, I'll never make any progress.

Today, we usually don’t need to buy a specific Windows server lab manual for study, Microsoft Documents provides lots of step-by-step guide about Windows Server system and Microsoft Evaluation center provides free Windows Server evaluation for use to test. All of them can help us make progress on Windows Server.
There is a good article tell us how to Build a Windows Domain Lab
Windows Server 2016: Build a Windows Domain Lab at Home for Free - TechNet Articles - United States (English) - TechNet Wiki (microsoft.com)

Of course, you could still buy a related book in Amazon or ebay.

Microsoft Certification Program is supported on their own forums. I'd try asking for assistance in dedicated forums here. (Participate\Ask A Question)
