Hi!

I have an up to date windows 11 installed on my laptop, I am facing "Code 43" error :

"Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)

A request for the USB device descriptor failed."

The weird thing is that I have nothing in my laptop USB ports!

I tried uninstalling the USB drivers and restarting my laptop, it didn't work.

I tried the troubleshooter and it also didn't work.

I have also deleted the entire system and reinstalled it, and nothing worked.

I am really deperate for a solution, I tried everything on the internet, what should I do?!

I am looking forward to any possible answer, thank you in advance.

Hi Hassan. I'm Greg, 10 years awarded Windows MVP, specializing in Installation, Performance, Troubleshooting and Activation, here to help you.

    1. Update your chipset drivers and BIOS/UEFI firmware from the PC or motherboard maker's Support Downloads web page, using the full model number, Serial Number or Dell Service Tag on sticker. Compare the latest drivers available for download with the ones presently installed in Device Manager reached by right clicking the Start button. Make sure you have the latest BIOS or UEFI firmware, Chipset, Display (Video), Sound, USB3, Bluetooth, Network and all other drivers, or else download and install the latest now.

Updating drivers from the Device Manager or Windows Update is rarely enough. The most basic thing we need to learn to maintain a PC is keep the latest manufacturer's drivers installed from their Support Downloads web page. Everything else depends on this.

    1. Try these fixes for Unknown USB device Code 43 error:

    Hassan -

You said you "deleted the entire system and reinstalled it" which I'm assuming means you did a Clean Install since the inferior Reset does not delete the old partitions but just reinstalls over them.

A Clean Install is shown here:

    https://www.groovypost.com/howto/clean-install-...

    https://pureinfotech.com/clean-install-windows-11/

This is done best by deleting all partitions down to Unallocated Space, choosing the Unallocated Space, then click Next to auto-create and -format the needed partitions and begin - this makes it foolproof.

Afterwards expedite all Updates, import drivers from the PC maker's Support Downloads web page.

Even if you only did the Reset, you should still update all of your drivers from the PC or motherboard maker's Support Downloads webpage for your exact model. While there check for the latest Chipset, BIOS, Sound, Network, USB3, Bluetooth and all other drivers to compare with the version/date installled for that device in Device Manager reached by right clicking the Start Menu.

Try these additional fixes for Device Descriptor Request Failed (Unknown USB device) - fixes are the same for Windows 10 and 11:

Please post back results of all steps provided so I know what to suggest next, if necessary.

    Hi again, Greg!

First of all, I wanna thank you again and again for your info.

I have installed the system in the clean way that was mentioned above in your comment, I am an expert with this kind of stuff, and I have installed all the drivers via Windows Update.

I need to remind you that the sound of the plugged-in and unplugged USB is coming while there are no devices in the USB ports.=, and it repeats soo much time.

I started to hate my laptop because of it.

All the mentioned methods in your comment were tried before and they came back with no useful result, it's important to say that I checked the ports and they are absolutely clean.

I believe it's a hardware issue, not software because I have tried every single possible solution.

    Regards.

I gave you dozens of steps to try in many links, but there are no specific results reported back for any of the steps as I asked. I need to know what these results are so I know what to suggest next. Please go back to the top of the thread to report back results for each and every step in each link.

This is an interactive process. I give steps to perform, you do each one and then report back results until something works, so I know what to suggest next. If you need help performing any step, just ask back. But please do not skip any steps. We often find out the skipped step is the fix.

Try these fixes for random USB connect/disconnect sound:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q6eFh82kHSs

Update the chipset from the PC or motherboard manufacturer's Support Downloads web page for your exact full model number, Serial number or Dell Service tag.

Try disabling USB Selective Suspend in Settings > Display > Power & sleep > Additional power settings > Change plan settings > Change advanced power settings, under 'USB settings', under "USB selective suspend setting' set it to 'Disabled'.

If that does not resolve the sound effect, in Device Manager, open and uninstall each USB controller driver. To restart PC program the power button first to Shut down the PC at Settings > System > Power & Sleep > Additional Power Settings > Choose what Power buttons do. Restarting the PC will reinstall the drivers which can solve USB problems including this issue.

Based on the results you post back I may have other suggestions if necessary.
