preinstalled apps missing after reset

Hello,

I bought a Lenovo laptop with Windows 11 preinstalled about 2 months ago. It came with McAfee softwares preinstalled, which I removed immediately. Earlier this week, I had to reset the laptop. Normally, when I do this, everything that was preinstalled comes back. However, the McAfee WebAdvisor program wasn’t there. I honestly don’t care because I would have removed it anyway. However, I wonder if their’s something wrong with my laptop. Why McAfee WebAdvisor didn’t come back? The McAfee antivirus did and I immediately uninstall it. Maybe I got a maleware on the recovery partition? I don’t think so but I really don’t understand what’s going on. I used the Download from the cloud option to reset the laptop. Everything is working find.

Regards,

Olivier

    Hello Dave,

Thanks for your help. I think I explained my situation in a wrong way. Let me explain again: after the reset, everything from Lenovo and the Office365 came back. McAfee antivirus came back as well. The only thing that was missing was the WebAdvisor, which I do not want on my computer. Normally, when I reset my other computers, both McAfee and WebAdvisor come back and I have to uninstall them. So now I’m wondering why it didn’t come back. Is there something wrong with my computer? When I received it, I immediately uninstalled McAfee and McAfee WebAdvisor. Maybe Windows 11 changed the reset process?

    Regards,

    Olivier

    Hi Olivier

I am Dave, I will help you with this.

A Windows reset. either Cloud or Local, should delete all 3rd party applications, like McAfee form your PC, this is normal, only your personal files and default Windows apps will be kept.

A Manufacturers Factory Restore will re-install any applications that were originally installed when you purchased your PC.

You can re-install McAfee Web Advisor from their website on the link below:
