Password reset issues

Hello,

I have a Microsoft account that I haven't used in a while. I don't remember the password that I changed it to, but I still have access to Gmail. I do not remember any previous passwords, nor did I have Skype or not. I'm always putting as many details as possible, but my account recovery request is being rejected due to a lack of detail.

Hi there, Bratek! This is Marc. Thank you for reaching out to the community.

Thanks for providing those details. Based on what you've described, here are a few approaches we can try.

    1. Use the standard password reset flow with Gmail verification

    > Go to https://account.live.com/password/reset.

    > Enter your Microsoft account email.

    > Choose “Email” as the verification method.

    > Check your Gmail inbox for the verification code, enter it, and reset your password.

Note: If you don’t see the email verification option or it redirects you to the recovery form, this means:

    > Your Gmail is not set as a security recovery option on the Microsoft account.

    > In this case, the recovery form is the only route.

    1. If Gmail is listed as your recovery email but reset still fails, contact Microsoft Support directly:

    > Go to https://support.microsoft.com/contactus.

    > Choose “Account & billing” > “Can’t sign in”.

    > Use chat or call options and explain that: You have access to your recovery Gmail, you cannot reset the password and your recovery form is rejected despite detailed submissions.

If Microsoft cannot verify ownership, they will not restore access for security reasons. In that case, creating a new Microsoft account is necessary for future use.

Let me know how it went on your end.

    Best regards,
