Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 installation problem impossible to solve on Microsoft Store

Hello,

For quite some time now, I've had an installation or update error displayed on Microsoft Store concerning the “Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 UWP Desktop Runtime Package” program, which refuses to update. I've tried several times to retry the download or even cancel it, but it's still displayed in the list.

I've also tried resetting the Microsoft Store, without success.

How can I resolve this issue ?

With your last powershell command, I get an error :

"Remove-AppxPackage: Failed to update, depend on or validate package conflicts" (sorry I tried to translate it because I'm French and its in French)

And it's still showing me the package on Microsoft Store with the same error that in the beggining

No worries, that error usually means the package is registered system-wide or has dependencies from another app, so it can’t be removed in the normal way.

Reboot into Safe Mode with Networking

This allows you to remove the package without it being in use by another service or app.

    1. Press Windows + R, type: msconfig
    2. Go to the Boot tab > Check Safe boot + Network
    3. Click OK and Restart

    Once in Safe Mode:

    1. Open PowerShell as Administrator

    Run:

    Get-AppxPackage *VCLibs.140.00* | Remove-AppxPackage -AllUsers

    1. If the command still fails, add this more aggressive variant:

    Remove-AppxProvisionedPackage -Online -PackageName Microsoft.VCLibs.140.00.*

    1. Restart your PC

Please let me know how it goes!

    Thanks for the response.

    Please follow below steps

You can try downloading the problem package manually from Microsoft:

    1. Go to the https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/cpp/windows/l...
    2. Download and install:

    Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2022 Redistributable (x86 and x64)

    1. Reboot your system.

If you are still stuck at UWP-specific one, then follow below steps to remove it

    1. Open PowerShell as Administrator
    2. Run below commmand

    Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers *Microsoft.VCLibs.140.00.UWPDesktop* | Remove-AppxPackage -AllUsers

(You can replace the asterisked part with the actual name if it shows differently.)

Please let me know how it goes!
