Hello all, on the most recent windows update on the most recent nvidia driver, I have been getting stutters in games such as MSFS 2020, which never used to stutter, I was wondering if anyone else has had stuttering issues with this most recent update as I am just looking to find the cause of the stutters as well as a fix. Thank you for any help rendered and have a wonderful day

Ok I have tried all the fixes and nothing has worked, beginning to think that its a bug in either the graphics card driver or the windows version, so the only thing left to do is wait until the bugs are fixed

Hi again, Nick! Thanks for the follow up. Let's try a different approach.

Test an Older NVIDIA Driver (DDU Clean Install):

    > Uninstall your current driver thoroughly using Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) (https://www.guru3d.com/download/display-driver-...) in Safe Mode.

    > Install a known-stable NVIDIA driver (e.g., 551.61 or 537.58 avoid the last 2 releases).

    > Some stutters are caused by driver conflicts that persist after a simple rollback.

    Disable Overlays/Background Apps:

    > Turn off Xbox Game Bar, Discord overlay, NVIDIA GeForce Experience overlay, and Steam overlay.

    > Use Clean Boot to rule out software conflicts:

    > Press Win + R > type msconfig > go to Services > check "Hide Microsoft services" > Disable all.

    > In the Startup tab, disable all apps.

    > Reboot and test MSFS 2020.

    Tweak NVIDIA Control Panel Settings:

    > Set Power Management Mode to "Prefer Maximum Performance."

    > Enable Shader Cache Size to "Unlimited."

    > Set Low Latency Mode to "Ultra."

    Monitor Hardware Metrics:

    > Use tools like HWiNFO to check for:

    > CPU/GPU overheating (throttling causes stutters).

    > Background tasks hogging resources.

    > RAM/VRAM usage spikes.

    Hi Nick,

Thanks for the quick update! I’m sorry to hear that rolling back your NVIDIA driver didn’t help.

Here are some steps to help you resolve the 0x800f081f error and hopefully get your Windows update working:

First, try running the Windows Update Troubleshooter to detect and fix issues automatically:

    > Open Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.

    > Find Windows Update and click Run. Follow the instructions to allow Windows to attempt to fix any problems.

Second is running the SFC and DISM tool

    > Open Command Prompt as Administrator and type the following command:

    sfc /scannow

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

    > Let SFC and DISM finish scanning and repairing. This can take some time, so be patient. Afterward, restart your PC and check if the update works.

If Windows Update is still failing, you can manually download and install the update from the Microsoft Update Catalog:

    > Go to https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Home.aspx. Search for the update that’s failing

    > Download the update that matches your system architecture (x64, ARM, etc.).

    Additional steps to try:

Corrupt Windows Update files can cause problems. To clear the cache:

    > Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.

    > In the list of services, find Windows Update, right-click it, and choose Stop.

    > Navigate to C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download and delete all files in that folder.

    > Go back to services.msc, right-click Windows Update, and select Start.

Please let me know how it goes!

    Best,

    Marc

Hi there, Nick! This is Marc. Thank you for reaching out to the community.

It seems like you’re experiencing stuttering issues in games like MSFS 2020 after the most recent Windows update and NVIDIA driver update.

Here are some few steps to try.

    1. Check for Windows and NVIDIA Driver Updates

    > Ensure that Windows is fully updated: Go to Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates.

    > Open Device Manager > Display adapters > Right-click on your NVIDIA GPU > Properties > Driver tab > Roll Back Driver (if the option is available).

    1. The Hardware-Accelerated GPU Scheduling feature, introduced in Windows 10/11, can cause stuttering or performance issues with certain systems or drivers. To disable it:

    > Go to Settings > System > Display > Graphics Settings.

    > Toggle Hardware-Accelerated GPU Scheduling to Off.

    > Restart your PC and check if the stuttering persists.

    1. Check for V-Sync or Frame Rate Issues

    > Try disabling V-Sync in MSFS 2020 settings to see if it helps.

    > Ensure that Frame Rate Limiting in both MSFS and NVIDIA settings is configured properly.

If the issue continues, I’d recommend rolling back to a previous NVIDIA driver version or Windows version (if possible) to see if that resolves the stuttering. You can also reach out to Microsoft or NVIDIA Support for further assistance if the issue persists with no resolution.

Let me know how it goes, and I hope you get back to smooth gameplay soon!

    Best regards,
