Visual Studio - GitHub Copilot Agent Mode Not Working in Visual Studio After Recent Update

I'm experiencing issues with GitHub Copilot's agent mode in Visual Studio that started after the most recent Visual Studio update. The agent mode previously worked without problems, but now Copilot is unable to edit any files regardless of the programming language I'm using.

What I've tested:

  • Multiple programming languages including C#, C++, XAML and JS - all produce the same errors
  • Four different devices to rule out local configuration issues
  • Different network connections to eliminate connectivity problems
  • Two separate GitHub accounts to verify it's not account-specific
  • Confirmed I'm not being rate-limited by the service

Current status:

  • VS Code continues to work perfectly with Copilot
  • Only Visual Studio is affected by this issue
  • The problem began immediately following the latest Visual Studio update

Has anyone else encountered this issue since the recent Visual Studio update? If so, have you found any workarounds or solutions?

below is a example of this. As a test I created a new project, asked copilot to edit the main window to show "Hello World"

Windows for home | Windows 11 | Windows update

Yes, I'm experiencing the same problems as you, and I'm paying a pro+ subscription. Are we going to get refunded when something we paid for doesn't work?

Hello SudoArkMan, sorry to hear you're having trouble.

This may be due to an incompatibility with the new update. However, what I would like to suggest would be to get in touch with GitHub Support via https://support.github.com/ or Visual Studio via https://support.serviceshub.microsoft.com/suppo...
