Authentication issue

I am having difficulty with the authenticator app. I have been locked out of multiple accounts such as Facebook since October when I changed to iPhone 11. Various apps - Facebook state I will receive a code via text message but I never get the code? the authenticator app shows both my work and personal email address? I am wondering if this app also has my work phone a personal phone? Maybe the code is going to my work phone which is not a cellphone. Why? I have each account set up separately so the 2 accounts should not be used together.
