Error msg at sign-in

In Windows Security, my laptop (Win11) has an exclamation mark on Device Security. It tells me I need to sign in. When I try to sign in, I get an error message that says, "Oops, something went wrong. It was probably our fault. Try again later." I have tried immediately after, an hour later, the next day, next month... Nothing.

I have tried the sign-in helper. It says no problem found. Can anyone tell me what is happening? And how to fix it?

Clicking on Device Security shows what you showed above. And when I set up my laptop, I used my already created account.

Have you clicked on Device Security to see what it shows?

When you set up your computer did you create a Microsoft account?

    Thank you for reponding.

I have clicked on dismiss before and it's good for a day or two, but the exclamation mark comes back. Still doesn't explain why I get the error msg when signing in. Am I already signed in on Microsoft's end and that's why it won't let me sign in? Although I would expect the error msg to say that. Is it just my laptop being stuck on stupid?

    Thanks for your help

What does your Device Security show when you look at it?

    Image from my desktop computer.

Have you ever clicked on Dismiss? See if that gets rid of it.
