Hello ,
Welcome to the Microsoft Community.
Based on your description, Please try the following methods to troubleshoot the issue:
- Check Microsoft Family Settings
The most common cause of the "Parent/Guardian loop" is that family settings might be misconfigured, preventing the login process. You need to either update these settings or remove and re-add the account to fix it.
a) Sign into the Microsoft Family Safety website
- Visit the Microsoft Family Safety website.
- Sign in with the Microsoft account that is being flagged as a parent or guardian.
- Verify that the account you are trying to log in with is not set up as a child account.
- If it is, make sure the necessary permissions have been granted by the parent or guardian.
b) Remove and Re-add Family Member
- In the Family Safety website or app, remove the account that's stuck in the loop.
- Re-add the account and ensure it’s properly set up as a child or adult (depending on your situation).
- You may need to verify the relationship (as a parent/child) for permissions to reset properly.
- Check Permissions on Your Account
If your account is tied to a Microsoft Family Group, the permissions might be causing the issue. Follow these steps to check and adjust the permissions:
a) For Parents/Guardians:
- Go to https://account.microsoft.com/family.
- Check the permissions for the child account, ensuring that the right parental control settings are applied.
- Remove any restrictions or adjust the age restrictions, if necessary.
b) For Child Accounts:
- Ask the parent or guardian to log in to their Microsoft account.
- Have them go to the Family Settings and check the status of your account.
- If you are unable to remove the child account from the family group, they should reach out to Microsoft support for assistance.
- Sign In Using a Different Account or Microsoft Service
If the above steps don't solve the issue, try to log in with a different Microsoft account to verify whether the issue is specific to the current account or the system itself.
a) Use a Different Microsoft Account
- Try logging in with a different Microsoft account (like a personal or work account) to see if the issue persists.
b) Use Local Account
- If you’re stuck in the loop, try logging in with a local account instead of a Microsoft account:
- At the login screen, choose Sign-in options.
- Select Local account and enter your credentials to bypass the Microsoft account login temporarily.
- After logging in, go to Settings > Accounts and manage the Family settings or account login method.
