Hello Everyone,

This is my first time posting on this forum so sincere apologies if I have broken any posting rules. I am one of the technical leads at our EduTech company looking to develop a UWP app for our student users. We currently stream videos (VOD) to Android & iOS devices using Widevine & FairPlay encryption respectively. Because of the native support for Widevine on Android & FairPlay on iOS, the videos are not only secured from illegal downloads but also from illegal screen recording.

My question is, will a Playready + UWP combination prevent screen recording? If yes, how? If no, do we have any alternate solutions to protect our content? I have been reading through the PlayReady documentation and have been confused with the Hardware DRM support. Any advice or guidance is sincerely appreciated.

Thanks in Advance.

    Hello,

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A!

For PlayReady DRM, it enables robust content protection and when I tested the PlayReady to play a video, then tried screen recording, it can't record anything in the video. So by testing, using the PlayReady DRM can prevent screen recording. In addition, here is a sample about PlayReady, you can download and check it.
