The game crashes due to Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

Hello,

Recently I wanted to play the game Venetica again. Everything was going well, but then it started crashing with this error.

This usually happens when loading another location, but it has happened during it as well. It is not clear from the error what exactly is wrong with it. I played the game almost 4 years ago on an old computer, so I can't say for sure, but I don't remember there being such a problem then.

I tried running the program in compatibility mode for different OS, but apparently it has no effect.

Is it solvable, please?

Thank you

PS. Below I am adding a printscreen of all C++ versions (if it helps). My OS: Windows 11 Home, Version: 24H2, Build: 26120.3585

Hello MichalRama it seems like the issue might be related to the Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library or the game's compatibility with Windows 11. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the problem

It seems like the issue might be related to the Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library or the game's compatibility with Windows 11. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the problem:

    1. **Update Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables**
    • Download and install the latest versions of the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables for both **x86** and **x64** architectures. You can find them on the Microsoft website.
    1. **Reinstall the Game**
    • Uninstall Venetica completely and reinstall it. Make sure to delete any leftover files in the installation directory before reinstalling.
    1. **Check for Missing Dependencies**
    • Some older games require specific versions of DirectX or PhysX. Check the game's installation folder for a **_CommonRedist** subfolder and install any missing components.
    1. **Modify Game Settings**
    • Navigate to the **settings-user.ini** file in the game's directory (likely in the Documents folder).
    • Look for any unusual settings, such as max_light_count, and adjust them. For example, set max_light_count = 0.
    1. **Run as Administrator**
    • Right-click the game executable and select **Run as Administrator**. This can sometimes bypass runtime errors.
    1. **Disable Overlays**
    • If you're using platforms like Steam or GOG, disable any in-game overlays, as they can interfere with older games.
    1. **Compatibility Troubleshooter**
    • Run the **Compatibility Troubleshooter** again, but this time, manually select an older version of Windows (e.g., Windows 7 or 8).
    1. **Check for Community Fixes**

It is my honor to give you some advice, and I hope that my efforts can be of some use to you, otherwise let me know and we will come up with a more technical solution

Don't forget to put my recommendation useful so that it can reach more people

Thank you for your understanding and support.

    Best regards!
