How many vCPU make a CORE and how many cores make a CPU in Azure ?

Hello,
Is vCPU big or Core bigger than vCPU ? If I have to choose an VM instance based on no. of cores or no. of vCPU, then how much of computing power do I get?
I couldnt find a suitable document anywhere in Microsoft portal to explain about this comparision.
Any help with explanation on below will be very much appreciated.
- Is vCPU bigger then CORE ?
- How Many vCPUs make a CORE ?
- Is 1 Core = Single core of a multicore CPU ?

- How much computing power do we get when we choose an instance with x no. of vCPUs (Vs) x no. of cores
- Is vCPUs more than cores ?
Please guide me to relevant article on Microsoft, if that explains about vCPU and Cores
