So today, the sound on my computer suddenly stopped working. I checked Device Manager and my audio inputs and outputs are missing. How do I get it back and fix my sound?

Hi, I'm Estrella. I'll do my best to help you.

Let's try downloading and installing the audio driver from your PC manufacturer's support website.

    1. What is the make and model of your device?

In the search bar, type MSINFO32 and hit Enter.

Please share a screenshot of that window.

    1. Press Windows + X and choose Device Manager.

Click View > Show hidden devices

Expand Sound, Video, and Game Controllers.

Take a screenshot and share it here.

    1. Are you using a built-in speaker or an external one (connected via Bluetooth, USB, or jack)?

I was able to restore sound and fix the issue with “No audio output device installed” / “AudioEndpointBuilder service won’t start” without resetting the PC or reinstalling Windows from scratch.

    I tried all possible solutions:
reinstalled drivers, manually restored services via Registry and Command Prompt, ran sfc, DISM, rolled back updates — nothing worked.

The only thing that helped was this:

    • Settings → System → Recovery
      “Fix problems using Windows Update”
“Reinstall current version of Windows” (without losing files, data, or installed apps)

After the update was downloaded and installed, and the system rebooted —
the sound came back, the audio services were restored, and everything worked again.

Thank you, but I already tried that and it worked for about 2 days then I had the same issues again.
