Hello, for some time now my PC has not randomly loaded the Windows session and freezes on the welcome screen with no more options accessible, put on standby, restart or shut down the PC. Once restarted the PC loads without problem. This happens quite often but until now I had not had a blue screen. Here is the message from the observer:

The computer restarted after a bug check. The bug check was: 0x00000018 (0xffff998ee22fd220, 0xffff998ef51970c0, 0x0000000000000001, 0x330000003f000001). A video was recorded in: C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP. Report ID: 626b5e08-ee2f-4710-93ac-bc25ab82920d.

the MEMORY.DMP file is almost 3 gigabytes

Here is the file located in C:\Windows\Minidump

Hello, I wanted to thank you. Apparently, it was the USB floppy drive.

Modern PCs have more inconveniences than older ones, no more CD drives, etc.

Finally, the problem is solved. You shouldn't leave a floppy drive connected when starting the PC. In my opinion, regardless of the brand of the drive, it must be a major problem. I hope this helps others.

Yours faithfully, Thank you and have a good weekend ^^

The crash file is available at this address; it is the very latest one.

The problem occurs about every 4-5 days but there is always no blue screen.
I thank you for your help and remain at your disposal.

    Dear Man WOn,

Thank you for the detailed update, and I’m glad to hear that you've already taken steps to troubleshoot the issue.

Regarding the dump file, you can find the dump file at the following location on your PC:

    C:\Windows\Minidump

If you do not see the folder or there are no files under the folder, follow the steps below to complete the configuration:

    1. Right-click on ‘This PC’ or ‘Computer’ on your desktop or in File Explorer, and select ‘Properties’.
    2. Click on ‘Advanced system settings’ on the left-hand side.
    3. In the System Properties window, go to the ‘Advanced’ tab and click on ‘Settings…’ under the ‘Startup and Recovery’ section.
    4. In the Startup and Recovery window, under the ‘System failure’ section, make sure the following settings are configured:
    • Check ‘Write an event to the system log’.
    • Uncheck ‘Automatically restart’.
    • Ensure the ‘Write debugging information’ option is set to ‘Small memory dump (256 KB)’.
    • Confirm the dump file location is set to %SystemRoot%\Minidump.
    • Click ‘OK’ to apply these settings and then restart your computer to ensure the changes take effect.

Once your system is configured to create small memory dump files, please wait for the next blue screen event to occur.

These smaller files (typically .dmp files) are usually generated after a system crash and contain valuable information for troubleshooting. You can compress the dump files before sharing them to make it easier to upload.

Once you’ve uploaded them, feel free to share the link with me, and I’ll proceed with further analysis.

    Looking forward to your response!

    Best regards,

Hello, first of all, thank you for your replies.

I confirm that Oculus services are not starting under Windows: they are in manual mode, all drivers are up to date, BIOS, etc. I simply unplugged a USB floppy disk, which could also be the cause of the problem, and, as you recommended, I disabled the Oculus Virtual Audio device, as it is not required to use Oculus.

I also disable ICUE at startup and launch it manually for software or video games.

Could you please provide the path to the dump file I should send you?

    Thank you in advance

    Dear Man WOn,

Thank you for reaching out and providing the details of the issue you're experiencing. From the description and the bug check error code (0x00000018), it appears that your system is facing problems that might be related to certain drivers or hardware conflicts.

The blue screen log you mentioned suggests potential conflicts with drivers for external devices like your Xbox controller, Oculus virtual audio device, and Corsair hardware. To narrow down the cause, I recommend disconnecting all external devices except for your keyboard and mouse. This will help determine if any of the external devices are causing the issue. After disconnecting them, observe if the blue screen reoccurs.

Check for Driver Updates: Go to the hardware manufacturer's website and download driver updates for any components, such as monitor firmware and drivers, firmware for hard disks, and so on.

Update BIOS and Chipset Drivers: In some cases, issues like this can stem from outdated BIOS or chipset drivers. Make sure that your BIOS is updated to the latest version and check for any chipset driver updates from the manufacturer’s website.

Once you’ve completed the above steps, please share any relevant findings, especially if the issue persists. If the blue screen continues even after disconnecting external devices, and the system freezes regularly, please upload the dump file for deeper analysis.

Looking forward to hearing from you and assisting further!

    Best Regards,
