hlooooo sir, waiting for reply................

still that folder is there old windows

I think most of the folder contents would have been gone. Some files/folders may still remain in some cases.

From admin Command Prompt, run:

takeown /f C:\Windows.old /R /D Y

icacls C:\Windows.old /grant *S-1-5-32-544:F /T /C

RD /S \?\C:\Windows.old

Let me know if that resolves the issue.

The Windows.old folder is created when you install a feature update (e.g., 24H2). It's required for the "Go back to the previous version" recovery feature to work correctly. The Windows.old folder will be automatically deleted 10 days after the upgrade after which the Go back option will be unavailable in Settings.

    Hi Ravi, This is Ramesh.

I'm unsure why updating the boot entries requires entering the BitLocker recovery key at the next boot.

If you don't have the BitLocker key, click "No" in the msconfig prompt. Then, do one of the following:

    1. Turn off Device Encryption via Settings.

    (or)

    1. Note down the Bitlocker key by opening the following link and logging into your MSA account:

    https://account.microsoft.com/devices/recoverykey

Take a printout of the BitLocker key. This is very important! If the key is lost, the data on that volume can't be recovered.
