F1-F12 keys not working as should

I know this exact question was asked previously several years ago, but I have further need of help. I have the Asus Vivobook, have had it for about going on 7 months, and the f keys have always worked without me needing to press the Fn key. But, after two of my teens have been using it recently, they no longer work without me first having to use the Fn key, and they can't pinpoint what they did (as far as they say, they didn't do anything or mess with any settings) and I'd like to get my computer back to functioning how it should. This is the original post I came across that details exactly what my f keys do now:

I appreciate any help! Thank you!Rachellynne003

Created on April 9, 2018 I just got a new computer a few days ago. It's an Asus with Windows 10, and the f# keys aren't working. For example: The brightness keys just highlight the website address and the volume keys open up the coding for websites. I don't know why they aren't working properly, and I'm not sure how to fix it. Is there something in settings I can do to change it? Maybe the keys are just mixed up due to the settings not being set properly.

Hi, I am Dave, I will help you with this.

The function lock may be enabled on your keyboard, try pressing Fn + Esc to see if that toggles off the function lock on your keyboard.

If not, boot your system into BIOS and look for a setting to switch between Function Keys and Media/Action Keys/

How do I fix it when I don't need to press the FN key for F1-12 because I usually use FN for the F1-12's.
