Hello, my PC enables basic render driver at initial boot always, and i can't seem to get rid of this. I used DDU to reinstall my AMD drivers but no help. Is there a way to get rid of this? I can see this as "Specific GPU 2" at display settings

    Hello, Kemal Akbaba

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

Thank you very much for your feedback. I have carefully read the information and problem description you provided.

I understand the problem caused to you. According to the pictures and text description you provided, you seem to want to use 7900XTX for rendering in certain applications, but I noticed that if you choose power saving mode or high performance mode, the system will automatically select 7900XTX, so it seems that you don't need to manually select it, and you can also meet your needs.

Can you tell me the purpose of manually selecting the GPU?

    Best regards

    Hi Brian,

I noticed some stuff were still getting rendered by the basic render driver instead of my actually GPU regardless of what I selected in there. As fair as I understand the Microsoft Basic Renderer only should show up when you don't have a GPU right?Image

After a reboot the basic renderer option goes away which makes me think there is a bug somewhere that causes this

    Thank you for the pictures.

Yes, Microsoft Basic Renderer is a basic graphics driver built into the Windows system. It is mainly used to provide basic display function support when the dedicated graphics driver provided by the hardware manufacturer is not installed or cannot be recognized.

According to your problem description, this seems to be a potential problem. I suggest that you try to reinstall the driver in Task Manager and test whether the problem still exists.

Press Win + X and select "Device Manager".

    Expand "Display Adapters".

Right-click your AMD graphics card and select "Uninstall Device".

In the confirmation box that pops up, check "Delete the driver software for this device" and click "Uninstall".

Restart the computer and the system will automatically try to reinstall the default graphics driver.

If the problem persists after reinstallation, I suggest that you may need to report this problem to Microsoft. Since we are not Microsoft employees, we are just participants in this public Microsoft community, so for us, we need to submit the problems found in the feedback center provided by Microsoft. Please wait for Microsoft's further repairs, which may take some time. Microsoft may fix this problem in a future update patch.

Please submit your questions through the Feedback Hub (if convenient, please provide as much detail as possible, including pictures, videos, etc.), where the development team will see your questions directly and may respond to your suggestions. Detailed steps can be found in the following link
