Microsoft SSAS to Azure SQL using Azure AD Authentication or Managed Identity ?

As far as i can see, From Visual Studio 2019 for SSAS Cubes, it only supports Windows or SQL Authentication and not Azure AD Authentication or Managed Identity ?

Can SSAS MDX Cubes on Azure VM connect & fetch data from Azure SQL , using Azure AD Authentication or Managed Identity ?

Please help.

Note: Mine is MDX Cube which is not supported in Azure SSAS as of now. Hence using SSAS on Azure VM , instead of the PaaS option of Azure SSAS.

    Hi,

    As clarified in Supported Data Sources (SSAS - Multidimensional), the providers are listed. Using Azure AD Authentication in the connection is currently not supported in SSAS multidimensional cube, unfortunately, the mdx cube only supports Windows and SQL authentication.
