Windows shows that my local HP printer has an error, printer appears normal but doesn’t print, turn off/turn on and disconnect/reconnect do not have effect, if I uninstall and reinstall the printer driver, the problem remains the same

    Hi Martin Joerss

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

Merry Christmas! 🎄 Wishing you a joyful holiday season and a new year filled with peace, happiness, and success! ✨

Based on your description, I understand that you have an error with your HP printer, it shows normal but won't print, I understand very well how you feel!

You have tried a lot of troubleshooting options, and I commend you for your problem-solving skills and thinking!

As there is less information in this first reply, please allow me to ask you some questions to be able to understand your situation better.

    1. May I ask what is the specific model of your HP printer?
    2. May I ask what type of printer is it? For example, network printer, bluetooth printer, wired printer. (type of connection)
    3. May I ask that you see any error messages when you try to print? If so, what are the specifics? (Because I see that you mention that there seems to be an error)
    4. Can you tell me if other documents print properly? Is the problem only in some cases?

With less information available at this time, I can only offer you some more basic advice that I hope will help.

    1. Sometimes documents in the print queue can cause problems. You can open “Devices and Printers”, right-click on your printer, select “View What's Printing” and clear the queue.
    2. We tried running the built-in Printer Troubleshooter.

“WIN + i” to open Settings -> select ‘System’ on the left sidebar -> ‘Troubleshoot’ -> ‘Other troubleshooters’ -> click ‘Run’ to the right of ‘Printer’.

    1. Make sure the printer's cable or Wi-Fi connection is working properly. Sometimes, physical connection problems may prevent printing.

If you have a network printer, we can try to change the network environment of your computer and printer, such as different WiFi, cell phone hotspot, public network, etc. to see if the problem still exists.

    1. If your HP printer has a touch screen, we can check the printer related settings to make sure that the settings are the same as what was working properly before.
    2. Make sure there is enough paper and ink in the printer and no paper jam. Sometimes if the detection of insufficient paper, ink or some abnormalities can also lead to failure to print normally.
    3. We can also try connecting to a different printer to see if the problem still exists, mainly to check if the problem only occurs with a specific printer.

In addition to this, assuming the problem still exists, I would recommend that you also synchronize the issue by sending it to the printer brand's after-sales or technical support team (HP), who are more familiar with their brand's products and may have had other users report similar issues. They may be able to provide you with a specialized repair tool or a more targeted solution.

I sincerely hope that the above information will help you. Please feel free to contact me (Photos related to the question would be great!).

I look forward to hearing back from you.

    Have a wonderful holiday season!

    Best Regards
