You're very welcome. Is the issue resolved now with the steps I provided?
Reset issues - WIN 11
I have elected to do a total clean reset of my new desktop operating on Windows 11. All seemed to be going well. However the machine seems to have stuck on 'Restarting' for some considerable time/ How long should it take?
Tried setting it up initially, had major wifi issues. Moved it into office, hardwired, internet great. MSI wanted to update chipset drivers (the other driver updates must have wen through). Kept getting to 99%, and then install failed.
Called Costco tech support - she had me run something from the command prompt. The response was that there were corrupted files that couldn't be repaired.
I agreed, since it was new, to do a clean reset.
stuck in the ever-popular "preparing - restarting" loop. I tried powering it down, and back on... Same thing.
About the only good thing I can see out of having to go to Costco on Christmas Eve is $1.50 hotdog.
Any help would be very much appreciated.

2024-12-25T23:42:28+00:00 You will need to access the BIOS/UEFI to boot from the flash drive. First, completely turn off your computer. Then, turn it back on and press the appropriate F key (e.g., F12) during startup to enter the BIOS. Please refer to your computer manual for the correct key. Once in the BIOS, select your USB drive as the boot device to begin the clean installation. Thank you.

2024-12-24T01:30:12+00:00 We're seniors - no flash drives. If that's the only answer, it looks like back to Costco we go.
Thank you so much for the quick reply....

2024-12-24T01:15:34+00:00 Hi, My name is Estrella, and I'm a Microsoft user like you. I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing this issue. I'll be more than happy to help.
If the reset process fails, it may indicate that your recovery image is corrupted. In this situation, performing a clean installation using a USB drive is a viable option. This will wipe your system and help address advanced issues.
Find an empty USB drive with at least 8 GB of space and a working computer, then follow the steps below:
- Click this link: https://www.microsoft.com/software-download/win...
Under Download Windows 11 Disk Image (ISO), Click on "Download tool now."
- Run the tool, create a bootable USB drive or ISO file, and deselect the 'Use the recommended options for this PC' box to choose the correct language and edition.
Detailed steps here: https://www.elevenforum.com/t/create-windows-11...
Once the process is done:
- Connect the installation media to your PC.
- Start your PC and press any key to continue. Click Next > Click Install Now.
- When the Windows Setup starts, follow the on-screen instructions.
Note: If prompted for a product key, click 'I do not have a product key' and then click Next.
Make sure you install the same edition of Windows 11 (Home or Pro) that you previously had installed to avoid activation issues.
