Can't encrypt files

I've tried NtfsDisableEncryption, and i've started the EFS service from Services.msc.

Whatever I do, I can't encrypt my file.

Can someone help me?

(I can't insert an image for some reason, but the option is greyed out.)

A piece of info that might help that all my files are read-only? I don't know why that is, but I haven't been able to change that.

Is your Windows Home or Pro? This function is absent in Home version.

    Hi Bethany,

My name is Igor, it's a pleasure for me to help others and I'll try to help you.

What Windows edition do you have?

As got r/o attribute, I suppose you are saying about read-only attribute of folders not files. Read-only attribute does not have any sense for the folders and does not affect file access rights. That's why it is used for Windows internal purposes since Windows 98 and Windows does not allow to change it in most cases. This is absolutely normal and cannot be changed.
