Hi Guys,
Am using azure VM and I have outlook email i wanna use with it. I want to use the smtp details for my site' contact page form to post to email address. via phpmailer. Data doesnt post. error :
This page isn’t working
mydomain.com is currently unable to handle this request.
HTTP ERROR 500
Any help would be appreciated

Okay I got an update. The form actually post now but email not received. I have use my outlook email with smtp.office365.com as SMTP with phpmailer.
Does anyone has a way around this?

Hello @nadir semil , there is restriction of outbound SMTP connection from VM. Please refer Troubleshoot outbound SMTP connectivity issues in Azure .

Yeah I have seen that. But they did say sendgrid or any authenticated smtp. my outlook email has an authetincated smtp which i have tried to use. This isnt different from Sendgrid SMTP so to speak. If I already have an authenticated smtp with port 587, why would I need a Sendgrid to send my emails? besides i heard sendgrid is a pain and am not ready to go through all that. What if I use gmail account via smtp or any private domain email with smtp?
any form of help would be highly appreciated

Direct SMTP connection from Azure is blocked to protect Azure data center public IP addresses from reputation abuse even if authenticated. That's where SMTP relay service (often known as smart host) come into the picture. You do not need to specifically use SendGrid for that, any other provider supporting SMTP relay service will do. However, SendGrid is currently most commonly used across Azure customers and has native integration in Azure. You can definitely explore any other SMTP relay service of your choice in the market.

Would you be kind enough, for the very last time, to give me a vivid step by step process on how to incorporate sendgrid to work with my php contact form script on azure server? Just the contact forms am not using for emails, perhaps a working example/link would be highly appreciated, and I will bother you no more :)

Also, to add to the point of restriction I talked about above, it is not applicable for Enterprise Customers. Since you came across the issue, I assumed you are into a Pay-As-You-Go or trial Azure subscription, and not an enterprise agreement one. Please let me know if it is not case.
