Hi, I am Dave, I will help you with this.

Is your PC linked to a work account, usually the WsiAccount folder is created when your PC is linked to a work account with something like Entra ID, it is the Web Sign In account folder.

    Hi-

Like the original poster on 7-Nov I have also recently encountered this WsiAccount folder on my Win 11 desktop PC.

I do a weekly Backup & Restore on Sunday evenings ever since I purchased this PC in Feb 2024 and have never seen any errors. However the 3-Nov backup reported two errors indicating it was unable to find two subdirectories under \Users\WsiAccount named Contacts and Searches.

A search of the backup history indicates this WsiAccount was created sometime between the 27-Oct backup and the 3-Nov backup.

This is my home desktop PC and has never been linked to any kind of work account by any means, Entra ID or otherwise. So I'm concerned if this could possibly be an attempt to hack into my PC.

In any event I'd like to know how to remove this account. And is there a way to disable the Web Sign In feature and thus prevent any future attempts to add this account?

How can I disable USERS/WSI/Account? I do not need this new feature.

you can update your backup configuration and uncheck those 2 folders for backup- if its only a web user or whatever i doubt its gonna add a lot of contact or searches anyways

an alernative might be to just create the 2 folders

open the parent directory with an admin account and manually add them
