Upgrade failure

I have a repeating failure to complete the upgrade "2024-09 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5043064)" For many weeks now the upgrade fails to install with the error

" Some update files are missing or have problems. We'll try again ........... Error Code 0x80070003." I have searched everywhere for solutions to this error and implemented everyone I can find to no avail. I have studied the upgrade logs and do not identify the cause for the problem. The PC (i7 3.40 GHz 16 GB memory) is running Windows 10 Enterprise 22H2 Build 19045.4529. The PC is old and ran Windows 7 when originally put in service. A parallel upgrade to Net installed successfully. I am reluctant to do a clean rebuild as I have many professional apps that would be difficult to reinstall. Please suggest solutions.

An INF file is corrupted. We can fix this using a third-party tool named SFCFix.exe (written by an MVP).

  1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro of Sysnative forums) and save this to your Desktop.

https://www.sysnative.com/forums/downloads/sfcfix/

  1. Download the file, SFCFix.zip, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.zip - do not rename it.

https://1drv.ms/u/s!AjVYLGw0OBWU32V0vjTmNoJE4jL...

  1. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip. Drag the file SFCFix.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it. [See illustration image: https://imgur.com/a/7i4Y8g8]
  2. When you see the prompt "Will you allow SFCFix to communicate with Sysnative servers?", type "n" for no. Press Enter to continue.
  3. SFCFix will now process the script. It will take some time to complete. Upload the output file SFCFix.txt to your OneDrive.
  4. Restart Windows and see if you can install Windows updates.

I requested the "c:\windows\INF\setupapi.dev.log" to be attached. But I don't find that in the link you shared.

Couple of extra comments on my problem

    1. The PC has a large SSD with 400 GB free.
    2. I inherited W 10 Enterprise working for the local university. I don't really need it and would be happy to downgrade to Home Pro, however I have not found a way to do this.

    Hi Viawind,

Please upload your CBS logs to OneDrive and share the link here.

c:\windows\logs\cbs\ <= Zip and upload all files in this folder.

    Additionally, upload the following file:

    c:\windows\INF\setupapi.dev.log
