My laptop disk usage is almost always at 0% when PLUGGED/ON AC but the moment I unplug it, it's usage constantly gets active as if it were always doing something even if I'm not doing anything.
It's not really a problem yet, but I would like to know if there are any fixes I can do to make it behave like how it is when its plugged.
The constant disk usage kinda worries me cause it may shorten the lifespan of my storage faster and it's actually lowkey drawing more power than it used to with that disk usage (my battery dies a bit faster).
I have a 1TB NVMe drive, just clean installed W11 Home Edition the other day. Now of course I quite have all my data back on it. I also already did chkdsk, sfc scans and dism check/scan/restore just so you know.
I hope y'all can figure out something for me.

I do understand that the system does a lot of work cause of the programs, but I just kinda find odd how the disk active time of my NVMe is higher and continuous on battery rather than when plugged.
About the backup tools, not really. I did use the restore point creation once though after setting up my newly installed OS at first but that's it.
The drive's health is good. I checked it with Crystal Mark.
System makes a lot of work on behalf of the different programs. So the main criteria are accessed file names.
Do you use any backup tools?
What is drive;s health?
Mostly the System(PID 4), it has intensive disk activities about: System Volume Information, $MFT (Master File Table and $LogFile (NTFS Volume Log).
About the disk, I've been using this laptop for 2 years now... almost 3, so I'd say it has been going for that amount of time now?
It used to be just on 0% when I'm not doing much both plugged and unplugged. Recently, after my clean install of W11 it has been having constant disk usage (not 100% but just continuous usage around 20 - 40%) when unplugged.
Hi,
My name is Igor, it's a pleasure for me to help others and I'll try to help you.
Please run built-in resmon tool, go to Disk tab and check what processes access disk and what files are accessed. Tell the result.
As for lifespan, please tell how long this disk in use is and what is drive;s health.
