Trouble with verification code - bitlocker

I got into a troublesome situation regarding Bitlocker.
I was restarting windows because there was a request to install Windowstest update. However, I forgot to detach my external HD. Somehow it locked my initialization into the BitLocker screen.

I tried the normal procedure, to log in into my Microsoft account to get the code and unlock the laptop.

It asks for a verification code that is sent as message to my phone number. The registered phone number is a Brazilian one. I don't have access to it, since I am in the US. Asked to change the verification, to send the code to my other email address.

Bad news, the change will happen in a one month period. Until then my laptop is locked. I need this laptop to work.

Hope someone can help me get access ASAP.

Btw, is there a way can I call Microsoft in such urgencies?

    Hello Pedro,

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Community and I'll be glad to assist you today.

Usually, when you access any security information like the BitLocker key or reset your account password, Microsoft requires you to confirm your identity through alternate contact methods like Phone number or e-mail address.

If you no longer have access to the Phone number as you have travelled and are located in a different country, you will have to replace the security information.

However, according to the article below, Microsoft says, "When all security info is removed from a Microsoft account, the account is put into a restricted state for 30 days and cannot expedite the process."

In this situation, you will not be able to find your BitLocker key until 30 days to unlock your device. So, you have two options now.

    1. Wait for 30 days until the security information replacement takes place, then find the BitLocker recovery key in your account to unlock your device. (or)
    2. Perform a clean installation of Windows 11 from a Bootable installation media and sign in to the computer with a different account. You cannot use the previous account as you will be not able to verify your identity.

Important: Doing a Clean installation will remove all your Personal files. If the files are very important to you, you can follow the guidelines provided by "Greg Carmack" in the below discussion thread - Rescue Files when Windows Won't Start.

I hope this information helps. If you have any questions, please let me know and I will be happy to help you further.
