DFS - adding in new folder target validation slow

DFS - adding in new folder target is very slow when trying to validate and will eventually error saying the path doesn't exist.
The path i am trying to add actually doesn't exist it is shortened but will get to the backup location by a setup we have.
How do i get around the validation being slow as i just want to add it.
