All WIN 10 Folder gone

Hello,

this morning when I want to boot, I get a message: Missing operating system.

Since it was not a bios boot mixup I removed the SSD and I connected it to my Mac. I can not believe: the name of the disk is Windows RE Tools and the only folder there is called Recovery. I use Disk Utillity to view the drive. It shows 2 drives grayed out - 1 with 104.9 MB and the other with 255.41 Gb which must be the one with the WIN Sys. But since they are grayed out I can not access them. What ever has happened? I remember that I updated all the drivers in the Device manager and also a WIN update. (Before that I had too many freezes which really slowed me down)

Then I shut down and when I started all gone.

This is not too tragic, because I have a backup from 3 days ago. (Got too many times burned) But I seriously am very curious what has happened!

I will wait till I get some suggestions, if none, I will format the drive and restore the Backup.

I would prefer to restore my original folder because that would still be the less trouble some.

Additional information: On my Mac I have Parallels with WIN 10 on it,

I used diskmanager to look into that partition of 250 GB and WIN is in, so how could I make it functional again with some WIN 10 tools?

But when I use the WIN 10 File Explorer, only the Recovery Folder is visible which is empty.

Thank you.

Dorian

    Hello, DorianDorian1

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community

Thank you very much for describing the problem in detail. Based on the information you provided, although it looks like the system is missing the operating system when booting, and you can only see the recovery folder when viewing the hard drive on the Mac, don't worry, your data should still be intact.

Judging from the disk condition you mentioned, this problem is most likely related to the partition table or file system of the hard drive being damaged. This usually causes the Windows system to not boot correctly, or even to not display the disk contents properly when connected to other devices. In this case, the data itself is not deleted, but cannot be accessed normally due to system or partition errors.

Please note that it is important not to perform any further write operations on the hard drive, including formatting or rebuilding the partition table. Performing write operations may overwrite existing data, making recovery more difficult.

Due to the relatively complex problem of partition table damage, it is recommended that you contact a professional data recovery company. They are able to use specialized tools and techniques to recover the lost partition table and thus restore access to the data. Such companies are usually able to safely recover the files on your hard drive without destroying the original data.

    Best regards
