Repeated Black Screen Crashes with LiveKernelEvent 141, 117, and 1b8 when running Games

Hello, whenever I open up a game and play for about 10 minutes or so then my screen suddenly freezes, turns black, then crashes. Afterwards my GPU Software notifies me that a driver problem has occurred. Using browsers and other apps does not crash the drivers, only games. This has only started 6 days ago and the PC has been running fine ever since I got it last 2022.

This is my current system information:
OS: Windows 11 Pro 64-bit (10.0, Build 22631)
CPU: Intel Core i5-10400 CPU @ 2.90GHz
GPU: AMD RX580 2048P
Driver: AMD Software Adrenalin Edition 24.9.1
RAM: 2x8GB DDR4 Ramsta 2666MHz
Motherboard: ASUS EX-H510M-V3 (BIOS Version 2001)
DirectX 12

Here were some problems I've encountered before:

  1. Multiple BSODs while rendering videos
  • This is when I had an NVIDIA GTX 1650 as my GPU before I swapped with a friend for an AMD RX580 2048P. The problem was heating and general overuse of the PC because we were in a time crunch to render video files. It was fixed after I updated Windows, dusted off the PC and placed it in a better ventilated area.
  1. Frequent game crashes and storage drive disconnects
  • My RAM stick cables were loose which caused the crashes. I reseated the RAM and reinserted the drives and it worked again.

These were problems when I only had 1 stick of RAM and a GTX 1650. After I bought another stick and swapped to the AMD RX580 GPU. I had been running AMD Adrenalin 24.3.1 and recently updated to 24.9.1 but the problem occurred before the update.
I did move areas, but it has been 2 months after I've moved so it shouldn't be a hardware issue.

Here are the things I've tried to do:

  1. Rollback Windows Updates and Graphics Card Drivers
  • I updated Windows and the Graphics Drivers, but I rolled back to what I was using prior to the crashes. It did not work.
  1. Monitor GPU and CPU usage and Temps
  • Both have been running smoothly according to my monitoring apps. I've used the Task Manager, MSI Afterburner, AMD Adrenalin Metrics Tab, and HWiNFO to check. RAM was most of the time below 70% use, Temps do not go above 70C for CPU and 65C for GPU. I have had no XMP profile nor is it overclocked. Though the previous owner did overclock it a bit.
  1. Update Windows and Graphics Card Drivers
  2. Clean and Dust off the PC
  3. Reseat the internals (RAM and GPU)
  4. Fully reinstalled Graphics Drivers
  • I used the Clean-Up Utility of AMD for it and reinstalled to 24.3.1 once and 24.9.1 twice.
  1. Repeated restarts and not using the PC for a day
  2. Installed latest BIOS update
  • Updated the BIOS to the latest update Version 2001 (released 2023)
  1. Use Command Prompt
  • I used these commands:
    chkdsk /r
    sfc /scannow
    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
  1. Use Powershell to repair Windows Apps
  • I used this command:
    Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}
  1. Used the Ctrl+Windows+Shift+B shortcut everytime it crashed
  • I hear the beep sound, but nothing happens, I still have to wait for the game to crash on its own

==

I tried all of them, but none worked. One thing I haven't tried was to replace the thermal paste, but there had not been any need for it since Temps were always below 70C.
I also havent tried different hardware since I have no one in my area to swap GPUs with to try whether they work or not.
Im not sure if I uninstalled my Graphics Drivers correctly, but you should be able to see whether I did or not in the problem reports below.
I also have yet to try Video Processing if those crash my PC or not.

I get all of these errors at the same time except for 193, a2000002, and 1a8, which has only happened once, twice, and a few times respectively.
(I couldnt find the 193 Error because it was piled up by successive 141 and 117 errors)
Note that I NEVER had any Blue Screen except for when I uninstalled my graphics drivers.
They've always been the same process:
Play Game -> Freeze Frame -> Black Screen -> Graphics Drivers Crash
I can keep opening games then crash just to repeat the cycle all over again.
I have no visual glitches except for when the drivers crash, some of the icons where the Network and Sound bar can be found are halved until you hover over them. Task Manager also has a visual glitch where the process tag things (CPU, Disk, etc) either blacken out or become transparent until you hover over them.

What do I do? What can I do? Is it time to switch out my GPU?

I have an update to the problem. Apparently, it was AMD's recent updates that caused the driver timeouts. Downgrading my Adrenalin software to 24.1.1 might have not done anything, but manually changing the tuning of the GPU down -10% of its Max Frequency (90% from original max) should prevent driver timeouts from occurring. After about an hour of testing, there has been no crashes or black screens.

Link to the reddit post asking for help and with people with the same issues for those who also have similar issues. I kindly ask to keep this thread open for about a week or so for people to update on this issue, and if there is a permanent fix to the problem. For now, the resolution seems to be turning down the frequency in the Adrenalin software. https://www.reddit.com/r/AMDHelp/comments/14drw62/amd_software_detected_that_a_driver_timeout_has/

There are still multiple Driver Timeouts when I try using games. Upon startup today, I had two more LiveKernelEvents for some reason, 141 and a2000002.
I am not sure what is the cause of these driver timeouts, as I have already rolled back my graphics drivers, dusted off the PC, and reseated the hardware.
I found more details about my PC, not sure if it helps but it adds some more information.
PSU: FSP 500-60APN (500 Watts, no idea what 80+Rating it has.)

I tried using DDU and rolled back to 24.1.1, but it still didnt work.
Upon reinstalling the drivers and restarting, I was greeted by a blackscreen and the problems LiveKernelEvent 1b8 and 1a8
6 minutes after I started playing again with the old drivers, it crashed and gave me a blackscreen and the problems LiveKernelEvent 1b8, 117 and 141.

I did have a problem with reinstalling the drivers. After I uninstalled my previous ones and went back to safe mode, an error occurred while installing the AMD drivers (Error 192, an error with the Operating System. But it seems to be an error caused by safe mode.) I used the Clean Up Utility by AMD and restarted into standard mode. Then I tried out a game an.d crashed immediately.

    These are the errors:

Hi, I am Dave, I will help you with this.

Your data does indicate there is a problem with the AMD graphics drivers that is causing the black screens.

Completely remove the current AMD graphics drivers using the widely available free DDU utility, then restart your PC and go to the AMD website to download and install a slightly older version of the graphics drivers they provide.

A slightly older version of that driver is more stable than the latest version.
