Hello Avery,
Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Community and I'll be glad to assist you today.
I understand that you would like to permanently disable the integrated keyboard on your device. If you've already selected the 'Disable Device' option for your integrated keyboard in Device Manager and it still works, try the two methods below to see if they resolve the issue.
Method 1.Disable your laptop keyboard permanently using the command prompt.
- Right-click your integrated keyboard driver in the device manager, and select Uninstall Device. then,
- Open the Command Prompt (Admin) window. Type or paste the command below and click enter.
sc config i8042prt start= disabled
You will receive a "ChangeServiceConfig Success" message. Close the command prompt and restart your computer. To enable the keyboard drive again, you will have to type 'auto' instead of disable in the above command.
Method2.Using Group Editor Policy.
- Click Windows + R key, type gpedit.msc and click enter.
- Navigate to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates -> System -> Device Installation -> Device Installation Restrictions.
- In the right pane, double click on “Prevent installation of devices not described by other policy settings" - Set it to enabled and click OK.
- Restart your computer and Uninstall your integrated keyboard driver.
- Once again restart your laptop. The keyboard should be disabled.
I hope this information helps. If you have any questions, please let me know and I will be happy to help you further.
Best regards,
Gunasekar N
