Changing my local disk?

I was running out of storage for my pc and I'm pretty new to all this computer stuff so I bought another disk to increase my storage and with some help I installed it correctly and the pc knows its there but I can't seem to make things download into the new disk and I keep getting a notification saying I'm running out of storage even though I've got a empty disk. Is there a way to change were all my downloads go automatically? I've already tried switching the disks inside my pc which didn't work and I can't find anything about it online or on settings. If I could help on this I would greatly appreciate it.

Hi, I am Dave, I will help you with this.

    1

Right click your Start Button and open Disk Management.

Expand the bottom pane of that window so all drives are visible in that pane, please provide a screenshot of that window.

    2

Open the Settings App, then go to System - Storage - Advanced Storage Settings.

In the 'Where new content is saved' section are all settings set to use that new drive?

    3

Click the link below to download a small free utility named Treesize.

    https://www.jam-software.com/treesize_free

Very Important - to run TreeSize, you must right click its icon and choose Run as Administrator.

Please provide a screenshot of your C drive in that TreeSize utility, so I can see your hard drive and work out where that space is being used and if there is an underlying problem.

    Thank you for the screenshots.

Use these steps to move you user library folders to the D drive.

    Open Windows File Explorer

In the right hand pane, right click your Documents folder and choose Properties

    Select the Location tab

In the Location box, type D:\Documents then click Apply and OK.

(You must specify a folder name, not jsut the D drive (D:).

Wait for the move to complete.

When that move completes, do the same for Pictures, Videos, Downloads and Music

Each time, provide a new folder location, for example, Pictures will go to D:\Pictures

Hey Dave I've done what you've recommended but it didn't work for any of the files apart from desktop and now all my files have been copied onto my desktop.

Is there a way to bring all my files back into my file explorer.

Click your Start Button, type regedit and hit Enter to open the Registry Editor.

Click View and make sure 'Address Bar' is turned on.

Paste this into the Address Bar at the top and hit Enter.

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders

Please provide a screenshot of that Registry Editor page.
