I had enrolled a device into Intune, I have then removed the device from there and now it's still saying its encrypted although it's wiped from Intune and MDATP.

Please help.

If you cannot find the Bitlocker key, then the only way to remove the encryption from that drive, because a Windows reset will not work, is to create a bootable Windows 11 USB on an empty 8GB USB flash drive on another PC, then use that to clean install Windows 11 on your device and at the start of the installation process, delete all partitions on the drive to remove Bitlocker, which will result in loss of all data on the drive.

    Click this link:

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-downlo...

to download the Media Creation Tool (Click on Download Tool Now), with that you can create a bootable USB flash drive (min 8GB) using that tool

Then, Boot your PC from the Installation Media you just created (change Boot Order in your BIOS) to begin installing Windows 11

During the installation process skip the steps which ask for a product key and select the option 'I am Reinstalling Windows 11 on this PC'.

I do not require any of the files on the device. How would I remediate this?

Thanks so much for this help by the way.

If the Bitlocker key was stored on that InTune account and either that account no longer exists or your device is no longer linked to that account, then there will be no way to recover the Bitlocker key to access the drive, do you have a safe backup of your files?

Hi Dave, thanks for the response on the Microsoft account that I logged into the device with it is no longer there in tune account but it was associated with it has been deleted from so I can no longer see the device in the device list but when I go to sign onto the device, it still says I need my password. If I enter the correct password it still doesn’t allow me to get onto the account, when I try to go to wipe the device key which I can’t access

Hi, I am Dave, I will help you with this.

If your drive is now encrypted with Bitlocker, the only place you will find the recovery key is on your Microsoft account online on the link below, or you will need to check your account on InTune for the recovery key.
